The Rev. Tristan Shin

St. Luke’s welcomes The Rev. Tristan Shin as Associate Rector. Tristan’s responsibilities include the following:

• Counseling and Pastoral Care. Provide compassionate care, counsel, or referral for those isolated or lonely, or for persons with health, emotional, or economic concerns.
• Community Outreach. Represent St. Luke’s in relationships with Toni’s Kitchen staff, volunteers, and guests. Perform outreach and advocacy in Montclair and surrounding area.
• Adult and Youth Formation. Work with lay leadership to organize short- or longer-term classes and projects related to Church traditions, social perspectives, and community needs. Lead sessions for baptisms, confirmations, seasonal observances, and general interest.
• Preaching. Preach on regular schedule, coordinated with Rector. Lead adult or youth camps, projects, or events. Provide resources for retreats, church events, etc.

Tristan brings a wealth of experience and myriad gifts to St. Luke’s.  Tristan last served at Christ Episcopal Church in Short Hills.  Prior to that he was the Senior Pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church in Palmyra, a hospital Chaplain in Allentown, and a Case Manager at Lutheran Social Services in New York.  In addition to being an ordained Lutheran Priest, he is a trained Social Worker and former professional gamer.

Tristan started at St. Luke’s in February 2023 and lives in the Rectory apartment next-door to the church.
