Toni’s Kitchen Working with Montclair and Bloomfield Schools to Help Students Get Food During School Closures Due to Coronavirus

Toni’s Kitchen is partnering with the Montclair and the Bloomfield Public Schools to ensure that all children receiving school lunch will have adequate food in their homes during the upcoming school closures.  Each family will receive a bag of groceries and fresh produce every week school is closed.

In addition, we will be sending out meal bags to 80 seniors identified as at-risk by the Senior Services Department in Montclair. The Kiwanis Club of Montclair will be coordinating driving for this weekly service until senior programming is back to its regular schedule.  We are grateful to both for their support.

We will continue our regular on-site meal program but package the meals to-go to avoid large numbers of people sitting together in our dining room.

We ask for the following assistance:

– Food: We will need many packages of oatmeal, peanut butter, tuna, raisins or other dried fruit, shelf stable milk, rice, pasta, sauce, beans and granola bars or other snacks for kids.  Please donate the smaller sizes that are easy to pack and we prefer not to have glass jars. Toiletries are also welcome.

– Financial Donations: We will be purchasing large quantities of food, fresh produce, meal packaging, gloves, and cleaning supplies.  Financial help is very welcome. https://4agc.com/donation_pages/057d0c3a-22c0-4e3c-b1fa-0c33e1da1b3a

– Volunteers: We expect to need additional drivers and we will have small, short shifts for food prep and packaging of food bags.  It will take us at least 24 hrs to establish those shifts so please check our website.  https://toniskitchen.org/

– Your Neighbors: Please look out for your neighbors.  Some families that were stable last week might be in need next week.  We are here to help.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out.  toniskitchen@gmail.com

Thank you for being the warm, supportive community you are.  These are the times we need each other most.
