Donations may be dropped off when the 2nd Time Around Shop is open during the above hours by dropping items inside, in the Donation Hallway right before the shop front entrance. To enter the Shop – from the parking lot on Union Ave, proceed to the right and open the beige door under the church bridge and head straight forward into the Shop. The donation hallway is on the left.
The Second Time Around Shop is an all-volunteer non-profit thrift store located in the basement of St. Luke’s Church (on the corner of Union and South Fullerton Streets in Montclair, NJ). Some 40+ volunteers staff the shop and work sorting, pricing, pressing, mending, and selling donated items to customers from Montclair and surrounding communities. We offer frequent half-price sales and bag sales in July and February. The shop is a wonderful way to recycle your gently used items, and you can feel good shopping there because all the proceeds go to charity.
We gratefully accept donations of clothing for the whole family (especially men’s clothes), jewelry, small household items, books, toys, and collectibles. All items must be clean and in good working condition. Please be aware that we cannot accept:
In 2015, the Second Time Around Shop donated a total of $58,000 to the following organizations:
- St. Luke’s general operating pledge
- St. Luke’s bathroom renovation
- St Luke’s Caring Community
- Montclair Volunteer Ambulance
- Crossroads Outdoor Ministries
- YCS Therapeutic Learning Center
- HOMECORP Montclair
- Episcopal Relief and Development
- Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund
- Reach Out and Read NJ
- Save the Children Syrian Refugees Fund
In addition, we also share resources with local groups, and try to meet the needs of individuals who request help from our priest or Toni’s Kitchen personnel.
We always need additional volunteers to work on a regular or substitute basis. Please consider joining this fun and worthwhile activity. You will meet new friends, renew old acquaintances, and know that the work and time you contribute is helping save the planet and improve people’s lives in Montclair and around the world.
