Summertime and summer berries\u2026what could be better?\u00a0 Toni\u2019s Kitchen is inviting all you bakers and berry aficionados out there to compete in the 2nd Annual Summer Berry Bake-Off on\u00a0Sunday, July 28.\"berries\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This fun event for the whole family will take place at St. Luke\u2019s Episcopal Church in Montclair starting at 11:00 am.<\/p>\n

There will be separate contests for kids (13 and under) and adults.\u00a0 There are three separate categories of berry treats in this year\u2019s competition:\u00a0Cakes and Cupcakes;\u00a0Pies, Tarts, Crisps and Crumbles; and\u00a0Cookies, Bars, Scones and Muffins.\u00a0 A panel of judges from a number of beloved Montclair bakeries will judge the entries.\u00a0 Winners will receive fabulous prizes, including Williams-Sonoma gift cards, cookbooks, and kitchen accessories!<\/p>\n

The entry fee for all submissions is $10 per item for adults ($15\u00a0if you register on the day of the event) and $3 for kids ($5 if you register on the day of the event).\u00a0 All of the money raised benefits Toni\u2019s Kitchen.<\/p>\n

FULL RULES FOR TONI\u2019S KITCHEN 2ND ANNUAL SUMMER BERRY BAKE-OFF:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Enter any type of homemade baked good containing berries.<\/li>\n
  2. \u00a0Entries will be judged equally on appearance and taste.<\/li>\n
  3. Prizes will be awarded in two categories:\u00a0 Adults and Kids 13 and under.<\/li>\n
  4. Each category will be judged separately.<\/li>\n
  5. The three Adult categories are Cakes and Cupcakes; Pies, Tarts, Crisps and Crumbles; and Cookies, Bars, Scones and Muffins.\u00a0 Baked goods outside these categories will be assigned to a category at the sole discretion of Toni\u2019s Kitchen.<\/li>\n
  6. Each of the three Adult categories will have a 1st<\/sup>\u00a0and 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0Prize.<\/li>\n
  7. Entries in the Kids 13 and under category are expected, as much as possible, to be prepared by kids.\u00a0 Kids category is general and will not have subcategories.<\/li>\n
  8. The Kids 13 and under category will have a 1st<\/sup>, 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0and 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0prize.<\/li>\n
  9. Entries must be dropped off on Sunday, July 28, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., at the Assembly Hall, St. Luke\u2019s Church, 73 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair.\u00a0 Enter on South Fullerton Avenue.<\/li>\n
  10. For Adult advance registration, entry fee is $10 per item entered.\u00a0 Multiple entries accepted.\u00a0 (Day of event registration is $15 per entry).<\/li>\n
  11. For Kids 13 and under advance registration, entry fee is $3 per \u00a0item entered. \u00a0Multiple entries accepted. \u00a0(Day of event registration is $5 per entry).<\/li>\n
  12. To register in advance, go to Toni\u2019s Kitchen\u2019s website at\u00a0www.tk.slechurch.org<\/a>.\u00a0 Entry fees to be paid when baked goods are dropped off on Sunday, July 28.<\/li>\n
  13. You may also register the day of the event between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. when you drop off your entry and pay your fee.<\/li>\n
  14. All plates should be clearly marked with participant\u2019s name\/phone\/email on the bottom (underside of plate).<\/li>\n
  15. Participants need not be present to win.\u00a0 If you are not present at the time of judging, you will be responsible for picking up your \u00a0\u00a0plates during Toni\u2019s Kitchen regular operating hours (see website).<\/li>\n
  16. Entries will be judged by a panel of beloved Montclair bakeries.<\/li>\n
  17. \u00a0Everyone is welcome in the Assembly Hall at 1 p.m. for the announcement of bake off winners, raffle, bake sale and tastings.<\/li>\n
  18. All entries become the property of Toni\u2019s Kitchen and will be available for sale at $1 per tasting at the conclusion of the event.<\/li>\n
