Luarca to Caridad
\n18.3 Miles\/40,678 Steps – (Total 235.8\/544,359)<\/p>\n

We left Luarca under the cover of darkness because we had a long way to go. Today’s journey was the longest planned segment of our journey. The sun came out to light our way.<\/p>\n

As Psalm 119:105 says,<\/p>\n

“Your word is a lamp to my feet
\nand a light to my path.”<\/p>\n

We didn’t expect much today based on our reading but we’re pleasantly surprised by what God had laid out for us. The climb out of Luarca gave as views of the town as the eastern sky began to lighten.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We traveled through farms freshly plowed, and several dairy operations. We were occasionally surprised by views of the ocean stretching to the horizon. We stopped for a quick bite in Villapedre and Navia to break up the trip – and to eat.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Navia was another small port town nestled between the cliffs where a river meets the sea. The town is more than 500 (and probably closer to 1,000) years old and built up like a child pilling blocks atop one another. Any civil engineering or urban planning came long after much of the town was built.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We covered the distance effortlessly. We will have some shorter walks but more hills in the days ahead. We both do better going up than we do going down. I can only imagine that is because of our focus on heavenly things :-).<\/p>\n
