Millennium Declaration<\/strong>
\nIn 2000, 189 nations made a promise to free people from extreme poverty and multiple deprivations. This pledge became the eight Millennium Development Goals<\/a> to be achieved by 2015. \u00a0In September 2010, the world recommitted itself to accelerate progress towards these goals.<\/p>\n

8 Goals for 2015:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger<\/li>\n
  2. Achieve universal primary education<\/li>\n
  3. Promote gender equality and empower women<\/li>\n
  4. Reduce child mortality<\/li>\n
  5. Improve maternal health<\/li>\n
  6. Combat HIV\/AIDS, malaria and other diseases<\/li>\n
  7. Ensure environmental sustainability<\/li>\n
  8. Develop a global partnership for development<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
