I realized that at some point I would face the decision of whether to seek re-election or complete this one year and leave the Vestry. \u00a0As Spring approached, this decision became more urgent. What I thought\u00a0 would be a fairly easy decision to make, turned out to be involved and not easy after all. Ending this service would give me more time to spend with my wife and grandchildren. At this stage in my life that is very desirable. I also know that my lay ministry and service over my life time of four Episcopal parishes have been central to who I am. This service has been part of my response to God\u2019s love. It has been truly rewarding for all these years and I could not imagine living my life without such a commitment. To her credit, Johanna knows this well and understands that my decision to run for Vestry re-election is really the only decision I could ultimately make.
