Jo Ann Short

Vestry Class of 2022

A lifelong Episcopalian, Short is married to Jim Short since 1992 and mother to Sally and Grady. As a family, she has been attending St. Luke’s since 2010, when they moved from Pennsylvania. She currently serves on an usher team, a coffee hour team and periodically volunteers to lead dinner/dance fundraisers for the church; Jazz, Jeans ‘n More I & II, Mother of all Parties, and Gratitude-a-palooza.

Short is Principal Consultant at Simplify Nonprofit. Her work entails executive leadership coaching, assessment of existing business structure with focus on improvements in areas such as governance, fund development, finance, volunteer management and leadership competencies. Prior to that, she consulted for the Girl Scouts of the USA with a nation-wide portfolio of councils and she served the YMCA movement for 30+ years, most recently as the CEO at the YMCA of Montclair, from 2010-2017.

With a BS in Community, Leadership and Development from Springfield College, she returned to her alma mater in 2008 for her Masters in Organizational, Management and Leadership. On the vestry, Short hopes to utilize her organization design expertise in structuring St. Luke’s practices into formalized processes for a ‘rinse and repeat’ execution that can serve for years to come.
