Lou Balsamo

Alternate Deputy to 2021 Diocesan Convention

I grew up in Syosset, Long Island, and lived and worked in Manhattan for 13 years, before moving to South Florida for two years. Returning to the Northeast in 2006 with my family, we have lived in Montclair ever since. I still work in Manhattan in advertising print production for a large pharmaceutical agency.

My family and I joined St. Luke’s in December of 2010 and I have been involved in several of its ministries including leading the Men’s Group with Ian Williams.

Just like many of our congregation, I was raised Roman Catholic, but didn’t like the exclusionary aspect of the RC Church. My wife Monique and I were received into the Episcopal Church in 2012.

My family is also very much involved in St. Luke’s. Monique has been a leader in the Youth Mission ministry and enjoys volunteering at the 2nd Time Around Shop. Our daughter, Mia, volunteers for the 2nd Time Around Shop and Toni’s Kitchen, and celebrated Rite 13 and attended Youth Mission Trips. Our son Nicholas, was involved it the church as a teen, attending Sunday school, Christophanies and Youth Group meetings.

I am also a trained actor who has performed in local community theatre as well as showcases in NYC.
