The Rev. John Mennell is currently on sabbatical for the first time in eleven years (the typical timing is such that a Rector usually takes a sabbatical every five years). The theme of the sabbatical is “Go Deeper.” The objective is to go deeper into faith and deeper into the community where he serves. John hopes to learn Spanish through lessons and immersion to be able to go deeper into the neighborhoods that surround St. Luke’s and continue his work with immigration reform. The primary goal is going deeper into faith through long intense periods of prayer and reflection by embarking on a 30 day, 400-mile pilgrimage in Spain on the Camino de Santiago. The Camino is an ancient Christian Pilgrimage route that is increasingly popular today.
