The Rev. Oscar Mockridge

With deep sadness, I want to let you know that The. Rev. Oscar Mockridge died this morning at home. Oz was ordained a priest in 1965 and served several parishes in the Diocese of Newark. Subsequently, he was a director of homeless shelters in New York City and later counseled the chronically mentally ill.  His was a life dedicated to the service of others. In the week before Easter he was able to celebrate his 80th birthday with his family.

The funeral will be held on
Friday, April 28 at 10:00 a.m.
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church,
73 S. Fullerton Avenue, Montclair, NJ 07042.

Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Oscar. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive him into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light.

May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

In God’s Peace,
JohnThe Rev. John A. Mennell
