Church School Resumes

Church School resumes on Sunday, September 18 so bring your children, youth, and friends to Church School! For questions about any of our programs email Kathy Dewalt, Director of Family Ministries, at dewalt@slechurch.org.
At 9:50 a.m., if your children wish to attend Church School while you attend worship, the following classes are available, by age (please note that all classrooms other than the nursery are located on the 3rd floor and are clearly marked):
From Six Weeks – 3 Years old, children are welcome in the nursery at St. Luke’s, located just off of the Assembly Hall where coffee hour is held after worship. Our trained, responsible, and kind nursery staff will ensure that your children will be safe, comfortable, and entertained while you attend worship. You’re welcome to stay, too!
From 3 Years through 1st Grade, children are invited to join our, “Godly Play” classroom, which helps to teach stories according to the Liturgical Calendar in a way that young ones can understand.
From 2nd through 5th grade, children enter more depth and understanding in our “Exploring the Good News” class. Not only do children learn the stories, they begin to question and learn how the stories teach lessons about life and how the stories apply to them.
From 6th through 8th grade, youth continue to delve deeper into their faith as they discuss harder questions, address their connection to faith and society, and more. At the end of this class, children participate if they choose in a Rite 13 ceremony, affirming their intentions to continue in the path of christianity, study, and reflection.
From 9th through 12th grade, teens participate in our high school class. Deeper and more intellectual faith questions are explored, some which have no easy answers. Fellowship with peers is often well established and participants build lasting friendships as they tackle tough questions together. High school aged youth are also encouraged to join youth group and participate in outreach, mission trips, confirmation and other exciting opportunities.
