Christianity and Islam – Begins October 2

Christianity and Islam

Join us beginning on October 2 at 7:00 p.m. for a course on Christianity and Islam. The course will be held as a series on October 2, 9, 16, 23, and November 6 at 7:00 p.m.This seminar will focus on the ways in which the Christian and Islamic views of the world, history and faith are similar and different, as well as the ways in which the two great religions have influenced one another. Participants will discuss the teachings of both Jesus and Muhammad in the light of one another. We will also explore how those teachings can be or may have been distorted, or even undermined, by groups or persons within each religion. And, we will compare the ways in which the New Testament and the Qur’an approach history. We take neither a “how-to-convert-Muslims” nor a “we’re-all-the-same-underneath” approach.  Instead, we will seek a better understanding of two of the world’s great faiths.

Group size is limited. Cost of “Christianity & Islam” text by Ronn Kerr is $5. Discussions will be led by Mike Peinovich and Gordon Frey, but active participation by all members is welcome and expected.  A  frequent comment from participants who have used this curriculum before is that they learned as much about their own faith as about the other.

Registration is required.
