Visual Aspects of Christianity – June 23

windowvaPlease join us on Sunday, June 23 for our final class in our three-part series after church. We began our discussion in the eighteenth century, when much of religious art disappears as the Enlightenment takes over and art becomes secular. We then spent a good deal of time in the nineteenth century, and, particularly, with the Gothic Revival, as the Gothic style becomes the predominant style for churches. It also seeps into domestic architecture, and so we explored that aspect of the style. Finally, we will explore the twentieth century and the way in which modern artists and architects have viewed religious art and design.  To wrap up the series, we will look at contemporary church architecture. For more information, please contact Gordon Frey at gordonfrey@comcast.net.
