Mondays at 7:00pm, 2014: Jan 27, Feb 3/10/17/24, Mar 3

In Blessed Are You: the Beatitudes of Jesus in Scripture and in Life, participants discover fresh understanding and insights to enrich their faith by examining the Old Testament roots and context of the Beatitudes and by exploring the contemporary implications of these powerful words.  In sessions whose themes explore key words and phrases in this revelatory wisdom – The Poor in Spirit, The Mourners and the Meek, The Merciful, The Pure in Heart, The Peacemakers, and The Prophets of Righteousness – we are led to consider how this guidance from our Lord can inform and infuse our daily life experience.

This course examines the Beatitudes of Jesus in Scripture and in life.  It traces the Old Testament roots of this teaching, and explores the contemporary implications of Jesus’ powerful words so that participants may gain fresh understanding and insights to enrich their faith. The Beatitudes – part of the Sermon on the Mount – are found in the first 13 verses of Matthew chapter 5. The course text “Blessed Are You” is written by John C. Purdy and published by The Kerygma Program.

The course is facilitated by St. Luke’s members Bert Jones and Robert Weber. Registration is required. Resource Book costs $15. You may order the “Blessed Are You” Resource Book from Kerygma at www.kerygma.com.  If you prefer St. Luke’s to obtain the book for you, please add a request to your registration form.
