Into the Desert with Jesus… Sunday Lenten Series

Lent is that time in the Church’s liturgical year when we commemorate Jesus’ Forty Days in the Desert leading up to his Passion during Holy Week and culminating in the celebration of his Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Deserts are places of solitude, mystery, encounters with the unknown and, often, the scene of struggle with our limitations as human beings. Deserts are also places of spiritual transformation and the greater realization of truth and deep understanding. During this four-week Lenten series we will prayerfully and meditatively enter into an encounter with Jesus through the lens of other religious/sacred traditions of the world. On each of the four Sundays of this program we will explore respectively the Hindu Jesus (2/25); the Buddhist Jesus (3/4); the Muslim Jesus (3/11); and, the Shamanic Jesus (3/18).
