A Concert of Secular and Sacred Music
St. Luke’s Choir and Tenafly High School Strings
With the echoes of the magnificent Montclair Orchestra still ringing in the rafters, we hope to continue to offer great music from this beautiful church to the Montclair community. On Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., the St. Luke’s Choir (and friends) will join forces with the Tenafly High School Strings for a concert of secular and sacred music, under the direction of Jim Millar.
The program features the overture to Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss, Jr., Laudamus Te, a duet for sopranos from Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus, Spring and Winter from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, and will end with Schubert’s sublime Mass in G major.
The concert will last just over an hour. Admission is free, however we are asking for a donation at the door of $10. This money will go toward the St Luke’s music fund, to be used for extra musicians for holiday services, purchasing sheet music, and other musical needs throughout the year.
The Tenafly Strings recently performed at the New Jersey Music Educators Convention. It is made up of students who are selected by audition, many of whom are attending Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, and Mannes pre- college programs. The soloist for Vivaldi’s Winter, Elli Choi, was the winner of the Monaco World Violin Competition in 2016, when she had just turned 15. She will be heading to Switzerland in April to compete in the senior division of the Menuhin Competition, one of 22 violinists in the world to be invited.
This will be a wonderful evening of music. Please come, bring your friends, and tell your friends to bring their friends. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
